Grant family party

 

We went up to the cabin February 26-27th for our annual Grant family snowmobiling party.  We were glad Uncle Dave and Aunt Tracy were able to fly in from Texas.  They told us all about the crazy winter storm that they had.  They even lost power over several days and had pipes freeze.  We were also happy that Kenna came for the weekend!

She drove straight there from Utah State.  She also brought all of us some delicious Aggie ice cream!

Parker found this giant icicle hanging from the cabin.  It was almost as tall as him and he is 5'6". 

There was even some powder to play in the next day.  Kenna and Hayden easily climbed up on top of the horse trailer.  

It was fun having several cousins come up for the day.  It wasn't the normal group because of Covid. The girls had fun with Aubrey, Gwen, and Claire. 

Kev and I both enjoyed hanging out with Cody and the kids. 

Halle and Aubrey took a few minutes to warm up by the heaters. 

Kenna even let Addy white wash her with snow.

It is always fun when we pull out the giant tube.  Uncle Cody was a good sport to let all the kids pile on top. 

We spent some time warming up in the cabin, eating good food, and talking.  I had a fun time talking with Ruth and Mark. 

Race time

 

Parker and Hayden are both in YM's now.  Parker is a priest and Hayden is a deacon.  They had several combined activities where they worked on building cars to race.  They also received some help from Dad.  Parker's car is on the left and Hayden's is on the right. 

Wednesday February 24th was the day of the big race. Parker's car raced in the first heat and came in second. 

Hayden couldn't wait for his turn! I took a picture of him hanging out with his friends Brody and Mason.

It brought back all kinds of memories from past pinewood derby races.  It was the first time that Parker and Hayden officially raced eachother. 

Hayden came in 2nd place overall and Parker in third. 

Hayden chose out an Amazon gift card and Parker chose a Fat Cats gift card.  Parker told me he is going to use his gift card to go out on a date. 

They lined up all their cars from over the years. It made me happy to see them celebrate together!

Celebrating Valentine's Day!

 

I bought the kids Crumbl cookies for FHE on Monday.  Our favorite cookies were the chocolate dirt and Nutella.  I love these silly faces!

Addy was excited to make her Valentine's Day box for school.  She chose to make this heart emoji box. 

It was Hayden's last time to make a Valentine's box.  He chose this simple design with the BYU logo.  I can't believe he is already half way done with sixth grade. 

Our neighbors had a Valentine's exchange that Friday.  We had fun talking and hanging out with friends. 

Kev and I were able to go on a date that Friday night.  We drove up to Murray to eat at Red Rock Brewery. 

My favorite thing to get there is the bruschetta appetizer.  Then we went and got some dessert afterwards at Waffleluv. 

It was nice having Valentine's Day on a Sunday this year.  Kev surprised me with these beautiful red roses. 

Kev smoked some brisket for our dinner that night.  It was delicious!  We missed Kenna who was up at school for the weekend. 

Galentine's party

 

I was invited to a tea party on Saturday February 13th.  It was hosted by my bestie Brekke. I think this was the fourth Galentine's she has had over the years. 

I love that Brekke wears her fascinator hat every year. I have stopped wearing mine.  This year she had us write down our English names.  Mine was Dorthea Chamberlayne of pot-stow lane. 

The food was delicious as always.  I brought egg salad sandwiches and grapes. 

My favorite thing was the pumpkin hot chocolate that Brekke made.  I think I had four cup fulls!

We took a quiz about Regency etiquette.  I knew most of the answers from books I have read and movies. Then we played a card game. It definitely brought out my competitive side. 

It was a fun afternoon with these lovely ladies!  I look forward to it every year!

The other day I was running late trying to get to a party at my friends house.  When I rushed out the door I saw this.  Hayden was scraping the snow off my car and had started it so it would be warm when I got inside. It was the best and sweetest surprise! It is moments like this that make me realize how much I love being a mom.  I wanted to write this experience down so I will never forget it. 

Girls night out

I got together with my best friends from high school on February 9th.  We were celebrating Lisa's 41st birthday!  I just love having Lis as my friend.  We met in high school and have so many great memories together.  We ate dinner together at La Costa.  

 

After dinner we went outside to take some pictures.  Lis always comes prepared with her tripod.  We set it up to take some group pictures. 

This was our silly face picture.  I love being around these awesome women!  They bring out the craziness in me. 

We had a fun discussion at dinner about mom jeans and side parts.  My friend Jannie summed it up best when she said, "they may call them "mom jeans" but us moms are smart enough not to wear those!"

Parker got his license!

 

I took Parker to get his drivers license on Monday February 9th! He had been waiting a long time for this day. We also realized he had grown another three inches since he got his learners permit in August. 

He wishes he had a car like this to drive around.  He gets to drive our Honda Accord with 370,000 miles on it. I will never forget how happy he was when he went driving by himself for the first time. He drove over to his friend Ben's house.  He is loving his new found freedom!!
