New Beginnings

Our Mia Maid class was in charge of New Beginnings this year.  It was a lot of hard work to put it all together.  I am glad I have awesome advisors like Michelle and Laura to help me out. There are so many details that go into planning an event like this one.  I was glad and relieved it all came together that night.

Mckenzie did an awesome job of introducing the incoming beehives for the year!  She had us all laughing with her commentary.  One of the questions we put on the list was, "what is your spirit animal"?

The honor bees did a great job of explaining about personal progress.  We are grateful to have Summer as our personal progress specialist.  She brings out the best in all these girls.

 Mckenna received her ribbon for Knowledge.  It was cute to see her getting a hug from Maddie.  I love seeing the girls being so supportive of one another.

Mahala and Kate both recieved their YW recognition awards.  We were proud of them both.

Our YW president Brekke introduced all of us leaders.  I am grateful I get to serve with the best.  Brekke and I both hit our two years serving mark that night.

We had a hot chocolate bar after the program.  Michelle made some coconut hot chocolate which was delicious.  It was perfect to go along with the cold and snow that came that night.

We also had the famous square donuts from our local bakery.

Abby representing the different classes in Young Womens.  We had a laurel wreath, a rose, and a beehive.  The beehives actually made one out of fabric at an activity.

Our theme for the night was based on the Mutual theme this year which is "Ask of God".  All the girls wrote down questions they wanted to ask on the blue paper.  On the orange paper was the answer.  It was a quote by Dieter F. Uchtdorf.  It said, "He knows you.  He listens to your prayers, and He answers those prayers, wherever on this world you may be.  He wants you to succeed in this life and in eternity."

Presidents day

Kev took off half of the day from work to spend with all of us. I was really grateful to have him home for some of the day.  We went to eat at Pizza Pie Cafe which is one of our favorites.  We ate until we were stuffed!  I love the crazy faces my  kids pull when I take their picture.

After lunch we went and saw the movie Moana.  It was our second time seeing it.  Our whole family loves it.  Addy is always singing the songs around the house.  It is adorable.

We watched it at what I like to refer to as, "the sticky feet theater".  When you walk into the theater your feet stick to the ground from all the spilled treats and drinks.  The upside is that we only have to pay 25 cents each to get in with our pass.  Addy and Hayden kept turning around in their seats and smiling at me.  When we got home I took Kenna and Halle to get their hair cut.  They both really needed one.  Mckenna took of several inches and had hers thinned out.  We cut about six inches off of Halle's hair and it is still long.

Celebrating Valentine's day!

The week before Addy and I made heart shaped sugar cookies.  We gave some away to friends and grandparents.

We went up to visit my Grandma.  She had Valentine's treats for all of us.  The kids love spending time with their Grandma Great!  

I got to help out with Halle's class party.  I was in charge of  a Valentine's memory game.  The kids had fun and Addy loved being able to come too.  Halle was nice and helped Addy to make her our heart purse too!

Halle made a washing machine to put her Valentine's in.  She did all the work herself and I was grateful for that.

Parker came up with this cool idea for his.  It was easy to make too.  We helped him wrap the box in blue wrapping paper and then printed off the labels.  It was his last year having a Valentine's party at school.

Hayden came home and showed me all his loot.  He really loves those Fun Dips.

Kev came home from work early and surprised me with these beautiful red roses.

We had a fun evening out together.  It was much needed after the last few busy weeks that we both had.  We went to one of our favorite places called Red Rock Brewery for dinner.  We were happily surprised when there was no wait.  I had been looking forward to this bruchetta appetizer for weeks.  It is my favorite!  After dinner we spent some time shopping at the mall.  My husband does not enjoy shopping so this was just to show how much he loves me!  I found and bought a cute dress for Halle to wear on her birthday in a couple of weeks.  

Cole's baptism!

Our nephew Cole Calderwood turned eight years old on January 26th!  I have a special place in my heart for this nephew.  I love his adventurous spirit.  He is always telling me, "Aunt Lisa! Watch me do this!"  He loves to climb trees, play ball, and does an awesome belly flop!  He looks just like his Mom with his red hair and huge smile.

Cole was baptized on Saturday February 4th.  He asked Kevin to give a talk about the Holy Ghost at his baptism.  Kev was honored to speak and gave a memorable talk.  He shared about how Cole has his Mom and Clint both watching over him.  Kev said he felt strongly that Lisa's spirit was there when Cole was receiving the Holy Ghost.  The closing song that Cole chose was "Families can be together forever".  As I sang those words I started to cry.  I couldn't help but think of Lisa and what this means to all our family.  We had a delicious lunch back at the house.  Cody had smoked beef brisket for all of us.  Kamille is a great hostess and I had fun seeing all the updates she has made to their house.
