"Lucky Charms day!"

Mckenna refers to St. Patricks day as "Lucky charms day".  We had our traditional green dinner.  The green jello was a big hit last year so I made it again.  My favorite part is we have green mint chocolate ice cream for dessert.

I felt like skipping the part where we dig up the buried treasure but the kids were looking forward to it.

They each took a turn digging up the treasure.  When Addy saw it she shouted "Dubloons!"  I think Addy has been watching too much Jake and the neverland pirates.  It did make me smile though.

Hayden was proud of the Leprechaun he made at preschool that day.  He came home from school excited to tell me that there is gold at the other side of the rainbow.  Halle wrote a paper at school all about why she wanted to catch a Leprechaun.  She said that she didn't want the gold, she just wanted to catch him so she could have a pet. 

Go, Hayden, Go!

Hayden loves being outside with all this nice weather we have been having.  Kev thought he would take his training wheels off and see how he did. 

Hayden just took right off on his own like it was nothing.  Kev had to run to keep up with him.  He is a little speed demon.

He even learned how to turn around and go up the curb that day.  He wiped out a couple times but got up and tried again.  He is one determined little guy!

Halle's Frozen party!!

 

Halle had her friends birthday party on Saturday March 15th.  The theme of the party was Frozen.  She had already been to two Frozen parties so I had to be creative and come up with some unique ideas.

She had all nine girls that she invited show up.  It was a lot of fun with that many girls in the house.  The first game we played was called, "Don't eat Olaf". I made a checkerboard with 12 pictures of Olaf.  One girl would leave the room and we would choose which one was the real Olaf.  Then we put marshmallows on all the Olafs.  The girl would come back in and start eating the marshmallows until we shouted out, "Don't eat Olaf!" It was fun and we played it  several times. 

We also played Freeze dance.  We turned on music from the Frozen soundtrack.  The girls had to freeze when the music stopped.  Halle dancing to the song "Let it go".

I thought this one was a great picture of her friend Makenna.  You can tell she was really into the music at this point.

Our next game was "Do you wanna build a snowman"?  I divided the girls into groups of three.  It was a race to see who could wrap the toilet paper, put on the gloves, and hat the fastest.

 

The final touch was the carrot nose. It was fun to see the girls turn into Olaf.

 

The next game I made a frozen heart to use.  We talked about how Anna's heart was frozen in the movie and the only way to save her was an act of true love.  We put the heart under hot running water and the girls each said an act of true love they could perform.  It was cute to hear their answers.  Most of them were about helping their Mom's. In the frozen heart was a snowflake charm for each of them.  We then made bracelets for them to wear.  I didn't get a picture of the bracelet making.

 

I made cupcakes for the party in the Elsa colors.  It was great because I still had some food coloring left from the Elsa cake that I made.

We are so glad that are good friends Eva and Kathleen could come to the party!  We all had a fun time together!

Farewell to Winter!

We went up to the cabin for the weekend to get in some snowmobiling.  The snow is melting fast and it was our last time of the season.  The kids also had Monday off from school.  It was the perfect opportunity to do some skiing.  The plan was that Kev, the older kids, and I would go together.  Then Parker ended up getting sick the night before.  I offered to stay home while Kev took Halle and Mckenna.

Mckenna had taken some ski lessons before.  Kev signed her up for a lesson in the morning.  She ended up being the only one in her age group.  So she essentially had her own private lesson.  She did so well and it all came back to her easily.

 

It was Halle's first time skiing and she loved it!  Kev said she had a smile on  her face every time he saw her.  Kev was great and took lots of pictures for me since I couldn't be there.

Mckenna spent the second half of the day skiing with Kev.  It sounds like they had a great time together.

Halle had another lesson in the afternoon.  She improved a lot.  She started out the day at level one and ended at level three.  She loves to speed down the hill.

 

The girls riding the chairlift together at the end of the day.  It was a fun Daddy daughter date for them.  Halle was really excited to show me her pin when she got home.  It had stickers for all the skills she passed off that day.  We have really enjoyed winter but are also looking forward to spring.

Halle's 7th Birthday!!!

Our Halle babes turned 7 years old on Sunday March 2nd! She has changed a lot this year.  I was recently looking at her pictures from when school started in August.  She already looks more grown up.  It might have something to do with she is losing all her baby teeth.  She has lost three in the last couple of months.  It is only a matter of time before she looses her other front tooth.

 

We had a fun party for her that night at our house.  We had a really good turn out.  She was happy to have cousin Aubrey at her party.  They are only one month apart in age and always have fun together.  They both just happened to be wearing purple.

She had lots of cousins who wanted to help bring her gifts.  They were all crowding around to see her open them. 

Aunt Amy made Halle this darling Anna cape.  Halle loves the movie Frozen and was excited to try it on.  She wore it the rest of the party!

 

I made Halle an Elsa cake.  It has the doll in the middle.  One of my friends makes cakes like this and gave me tips and let me use her cake pan.

 

I had fun decorating it with snowflakes made from sugar sheet paper, edible pearls, and silver dusting powder.  The doll also lights up and sings when you hold her hands.  The girls each took a turn trying it out.

She put on the Anna dress up we gave her and twirled around until she got dizzy.

 

It was a special surprise to have my Grandparents show up at the party.  My Grandpa brought my Grandma from the nursing home to be with us.  I love how Halle is holding Addy's hand in this picture.  She is always great to include her in everything.  Halle is such a fun big sister.  She is always building forts and playing games with her siblings.  We love our sweet girl!
