Peaches for me

We have been enjoying the peaches from our tree this last month.  They taste AMAZING!!

I got a Redglobe peach tree back in May for Mother's day.  This is what it looked like when we first planted it.

It is exciting to see the growth after just four months.

 

Addy helped me pick all the peaches.  They were ripe and the birds were getting to them before we did.

We were happy with our harvest for the first year.  The kids loved having them in their lunches.  I ate them with my cereal each morning.  I even froze some to make a peach pie later on.  I can't wait for peach season next year.

An extended picnic in the park

It was our second year camping at the park in Ophir Canyon.  We set up our tent next to the Udy and  Birch families.  There were 19 families there on Friday night.  Our family stayed for two nights. We had so much fun!

The food was delicious.  Halle and Hayden enjoying their pancake breakfast with friends.  It was nice because everyone was assigned to bring something for one meal and that was it. 

Parker had fun hanging out with Will and Ryker.  We even put up our small tent so Parker, Will, and Blake could sleep in it together.

The kids enjoyed playing in the giant sand box like last year.

 

The Udy's brought up this fun game.  It is a human sling shot.  It is one long piece of material (it looked like lycra to me).  You can have four people in at a time. You take turns running from one side to another.

 

I even tried it.  You can get going pretty fast once you get the hang of it.

Halle couldn't get enough of the Birch's dog Oliver.

 

We walked down to see the sights of the historic main street.

 

Halle rode her bike all the way down.  She made that cute bike basket out of a fruit loops box.  I love her creativity.

Ophir is an old mining town.  Parker and Ryker hanging out by an old mine.  It is funny how they put ghosts in there.

They have historic homes that you can walk through.  Hayden loved the old fashioned post office and the blacksmith shop.

The kids had fun crawling around in these old mining cars.

 

Kev found some fools gold nearby.  The kids thought that was cool and all wanted to find a piece.

 

It poured that afternoon.  Steve didn't seem to mind.  The rest of us hung out until it let up.  We had a couple big thunderstorms while we were there.

 

The Muses brought up their side by side razor.   It was so fun to take off up the canyon. 

 

We drove a few miles up the canyon.  The leaves were starting to change colors everywhere.



It was beautiful!  Fall is one of my favorite seasons.

 

It was another memorable trip to Ophir.  We had a lot of fun just hanging out and talking with our friends.  Thanks to the Clark family for putting this together for everyone!  We can't wait till next year!

Raingutter Regatta

Parker loves being a Scout!  They just had their annual Raingutter Regatta.  They held it at the Page's house.

Parker received some red beads for the requirements he passed off.  He is close to earning his Bear.

The first race he got to compete against his second cousin Cole.  My cousin Jeff and his family moved in right around the corner from us in May.  It is so fun to have them live close by.  They have three kids that are the same ages as mine.  Cole and Parker are both in the same primary class.

Parker's gold catamaran stole the show. I love the expression on Hayden's face in the bottom left corner.  It looks like he is biting his fingers with anticipation.

I thought it was fitting that we had a downpour right during the race.  We stayed dry in the Page's huge garage.

Parker raced Kestyn for his second race.  Once again he won!

His final race was against Sebastian. Sebastian also had won several races.  Parker won again!

He took first place out of all the cubscouts.  His leader Emily gave him his medal.

It was another awesome scout moment for Parker!

Wicked

I had an awesome date night with Kev!  We started the night off by going to dinner at Pats BBQ.  It is one of our favorites.  Kev had pulled pork and brisket.

I decided to try the meatloaf.  It was good but I still think the ribs are the best.

 

The highlight of the night was going to see Wicked!  Kev had given me the tickets as a Christmas gift last year. 

It was my second time seeing it and Kev's first.  I went last time with my sister in NY.  I was worried it wouldn't live up to the first time but I was pleasantly surprised.  I loved it just as much!   My favorite song of the musical was "Defying Gravity".

Back to school

It is hard to believe that I have a daughter old enough to be in Junior High.  She was excited for her first day.  I was worried because there had been a bomb threat at the high school that morning which is next to her school.  I said a prayer with her before she went to school that she would be protected.

Mckenna tested for the A.L.L (advanced learning lab) program at the end of last year.  She scored high enough to be in advanced English, Science, and Social studies classes. It will put her on the right track for AP classes later on.  She was happy to share a locker with her friend Jenna.  I am excited for her.  I met some of my best friends for life in Junior High.

 

My handsome Parker is in fourth grade this year.  He has Mrs. Rogers for a teacher.  When I went to back to school night I thought that his teacher looked really familiar.  I asked her if she went to Ricks college and she said she did.  We figured out that we were in the same sorority together.  I went home and showed Parker some pictures of his teacher and I at college.  He thought that was fun!

Halle started second grade and has Mrs. Eliason as her teacher.  She also has several good friends in her class. 

It is hard to tell in these pictures but it was pouring hard right before they left for school.  Halle was happy to take her umbrella with her.

About a week later Hayden started Kindergarten.  He didn't seem nervous at all for his first day.

 

He played on the playground until school started.  He was a kind big brother and took Addy down the slide with him.  I love their big smiles in this picture.

 

Hayden has Mrs. McPherson for a teacher this year.  She had a baby right before school started and is on maternity leave for the next few weeks.  We were surprised when we found out our neighbor Summer would be his teacher for awhile.  It is funny because Hayden calls her "Will's Mom".

 

Addy misses Hayden so much during the day.  She was so happy to see him when he got off the bus.  He is such a sweet big brother.  He seems to be enjoying school.  It was funny because the other day at bedtime the conversation went as follows.  "Mom? Do I have school tomorrow?  I replied yes, you do.  Hayden "I am too busy to go to school tomorrow."  I just smiled.  Mckenna who overheard our conversation added, "Hayden seems to think school is optional."
