Cabin getaway

We went up to the cabin for the weekend on Friday January 26th.  It had recently snowed and we were happy to see inches of new powder.  Hayden pulled this giant icicle off the cabin as soon as he got out of the car.  It was as big as him!

Mike, Amy, and the kids came up with us.  We loved having them there.  Aunt Amy is a lot of fun to be around.  She hung Addy upside down.

The kids had fun playing in the snow.  We even made some new snowmobiling tracks in the field.

We had pizza for dinner and then watched a movie next to the fire.  It put Mike right to sleep.

The next morning Mike tried out Brady's new sledding board.  It looks a lot like a snowboard with a handle.  I caught this picture of Mike falling with style.

I hauled Brady and Parker to the top of the road to try out the wooden sleds.  

The sledding hill was a big hit this time. Halle went down with Addy and Elle.  It was so cute to hear them giggling together the whole way down.  I even went down the tubing hill this time.  Which is saying something since I hadn't gone down for 16 years.

I took this video of Addy going down the tubing hill.  She is a brave little thing.  Her pose at the end also makes me smile.

These two are the cutest cousins.  They were watching a movie together.  It was sweet of Elle to share her favorite blanket.

We took a group picture of all of us with the snowmobiles.  We are glad Mike, Amy, and the kids could come up with us!

Weekend Highlights

On Saturday we finally got some snow at our house!  It hadn't snowed since Christmas day.  The kids couldn't wait to get out and play in it.  The girls used most of the snow to make these cute "snowbabies".

The awesome news of the day was.....that Spencer and Megan got engaged!!  He called on the phone to tell us all about it.  We are so happy for them.  We love Megan and are looking forward to having her officially part of the family.  They will be married sometime this Summer!

Kev and I went on a date to the BYU basketball game.  We always enjoy watching the game from my Dad's seats.  It was a fun night out together.  I love date nights with my husband.  

This is a typical scene with Kev on Sunday.  He entertains us by making the raw chickens dance.  It always makes us smile.  It was a good weekend at our house!

Ski day with Kev!

Kev and I went skiing at Solitude Ski Resort on Friday January 12th.  It was his ATK ski day on his off Friday.  It was our first time skiing this season.

They gave us vouchers to get some food at one of the lodges.  I got these yummy tacos.  I tried pork, chicken, and shrimp.  I can't resist taking a picture when my food looks amazing and tastes delicious.  I also got a hot chocolate.  It was a good way to warm up on a cold day.  

I enjoyed meeting some of the people Kev works with everyday.  We took this lift up to the top of the mountain.  The farther we went up there was some decent powder.

I have to admit that my quads were burning after some of the runs.  It was a good workout for me.  Kev also took me on a run that was really steep coming down.  A few years ago I struggled to get down but I did great this time.  Kev saw on Instagram that a friend of ours, John Lufkin, was also skiing at Solitude that day. We both know him from our college days.  We were able to meet up with him and his wife Rachel.  It was actually Johns first time skiing.  We had a great time catching up with him.  It is nice that Kev and I can have these experiences together while the kids are in school.

Parker's snowmobiling party

Parker had some of his friends up to the cabin on Saturday January 6th.  It was a fun day hanging out with these cool teenagers.

Parker, Whit, and Dylan got some air going down the hill on the toboggan sled.

We fed the boys pizza, Caesar salad, and rootbeer for lunch.  These are some of Parker's favorite foods.

The boys had fun tossing around the balloons we brought up.  He got some fun gifts from his friends.  Dylan gave him a Nerf gun that can be taken apart to make two.  The boys had a great time shooting each other and the balloons.

Dylan and Ashton made this fun snowman together.  It was still standing when we went up to the cabin a couple weeks later.

Kev pulled the boys around the field on the big tube.

It was impressive  to see how they fit all six of them on there!

It was a memorable day and they were exhausted by the time we drove them home.  I am glad Parker has such great friends.

New Years Party!

We hosted our friends annual New Years party.  We had lots of yummy snacks and treats.  Kev even grilled up some Jalapeno poppers for us.  Brody was already giving two thumbs up and the party was just getting started.

The Frosts, Castagnos, Strongos, and Houpt families came over.  We loved having them come!

Parker, Ryker, and Dylan were all reppin the Y that night.

We busted out our Telestrations party game.  It is a lot like pictionary and always gives everyone a good laugh.

There were so many people that we put two twister games side by side.

It was fun to see everyone's competitive sides come out as we played games.  We also played one of our favorites called Blurt.  Mckenna, Kev, and I were all on a team together.  Mckenna and I both got really into it.  I started to even lose my voice from screaming so loud.  But it was all worth it when our team won.

We did mellow out a little before midnight.  Anders fell asleep and so we put him in Mckenna's bed.  We sat around and told stories by the glow of the Christmas tree.  We watched the replay of the ball drop in NYC.  Ryker entertained us at midnight with his trombone.  It was a fun night!  We enjoyed ringing in 2018 with our closest friends!

We had another party that afternoon with my family.  We hadn't opened up Christmas presents with Mike and Amy yet.

They gave Kenna this duffel bag that says, "Will Workout For Cupcakes".  Our new year was off to a great start.
