Baby shower

The beginning of September I was called to be the second counselor in our RS presidency.  My responsibilities are RS activities and missionary work.  On Tuesday September 24th I had my first activity which was a baby shower for Rachel Snarr. I was so happy that I got to hold cute baby Mila and feed her a bottle.  I really miss having little babies.

It was fun talking with all the other moms.

We each took turns giving Rachel baby advice. 

We ate donuts and Rachel opened up her gifts.  It is so much fun shopping for a baby girl. 

I made this banner for Rachel as part of my gift. 

It was fun throwing this shower for Rachel.  I was her Mia Maid leader a few years ago.  It is great to see her enjoy being a mom.

Youth activities

Parker's YM leader came up with a great idea for one of their activities.  Our neighbor and friend Wyatt Page has brain cancer.  He is only 12 years old and he just had his third surgery to remove another tumor.  It is hard for him when they have to shave his hair.  Some of the boys and leaders decided to shave their heads to support him.  I was so happy that Parker wanted to do this for his friend Wyatt.

Kenna was happy she got to be the one to shave his head. Parker actually has a nice shaped head.  He also doesn't mind the fact that he doesn't have to do his hair in the mornings. 

It was touching to see all these boys and leaders showing their support for Wyatt.

The girls had a fashion show for YW's one night.  They modeled dresses from the last few decades.  Mckenna wore her YW leader Jessie Demille's wedding dress. 

Halle had fun modeling Mckenna's prom dress.

I laughed when I saw what Kenna wrote on the board.

Mahala was looking legit wearing Melissa Mitchells prom dress from the 80's.  

Mckenna entertained us all as she strutted down the isle.  I'm so glad I got it all on video.  My friend commented that Kenna needs to do this on her wedding day!

It was fun to see Kate Bradley wearing my wedding dresss.  I posed her like this for the picture.

It was a fun night for everyone.  I'm glad they invited the parents to come.  We have such great activities for the youth in our ward.

What a weekend!

We drove to Vernal on Friday September 6th for Parker's mountain biking race.  We had to check the kids out of school early to drive there for the pre ride.  We got stuck in the worst traffic trying to get there.  There was a wreck and construction. Luckily, both Whit and Parker were able to participate in their pre ride.

The kids had fun climbing around and playing in the dirt. 

The sun was just beginning to set as the boys finished up.  We went and got some pizza and ate it at a nearby park. 

We stayed at a hotel in Roosevelt for the night.  The kids had fun swimming and then it was time for bed. I thought this was a funny sight of Parker in bed with his bike right behind him.  He really loves his bike!

The next morning we got Parker some sunglasses to wear.  He chose these bright reflective ones.  It does make him stand out more when he is riding.

We had fun running around to different spots to cheer him on and take pictures.

We even hiked up this steep hill to take some pictures from the top.

I had my telephoto lens and zoomed in from really far away.  I was happy that some of the pics I took had him in it. 

This was my favorite shot I got of him.  It was on his second lap and close to the finish.

Kev took this video clip of him crossing the finish line. It was a really hot day!  Parker said it was the most he has ever sweated in his life!

We always take a picture of the race results.  Parker finished faster than his last race.  Then Kev sped the whole way home so we could make it in time to see Kenna off to the homecoming dance.

 Mckenna looked beautiful and it was nice to meet her friend Evan.

They have known each other for awhile and there was no awkwardness between them. 

They went kayaking in Highland for their day activity and then went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.  The theme of the homecoming dance was "wonderful tonight".

Powder Puff

Mckenna had her Senior Powder Puff game on Wednesday September 4th.  

We enjoyed cheering her on and seeing how fast she can run when she wants to.

She chose "UR MOM" for the back of her jersey.

The half time show was entertaining as we watched the guys wearing the cheerleader outfits perform.

The Seniors played the Juniors that night.  The girls were disappointed when the Juniors won.  The guys came and did a group huddle around the girls.

They did a team picture of everyone after the game.

I love the view of the mountains from the stadium.  

Addy was excited to give Kenna a hug after the game.  

It was fun that Tessa, Brooke, and Kenna all got to be on the same team. Kenna's senior year is off to a great start!

Labor day weekend

We went up to the cabin on Saturday August 31st for a couple of days.  Halle and Addy spent a lot of time playing by the stream.  They also built boats and tried floating them.

Mckenna and Halle tried on the water boots.  They had fun strutting around in them.

Preston, Melissa and their kids came down to ride horses and hang out.

They let Mckenna and Parker try out their new four wheeler.

I loved catching up with Melissa! It had been way too long since we had last seen each other.  We figured it might have even been around Christmas.

Grandpa got a new roll for the player piano.  He bought "It's  a small world".

Spencer dragged Kenna out of bed in the morning when she wouldn't get up.  We were missing Megan who was in Iceland with her sister.

Grandpa taught Mckenna how to drive the tractor.  Unfortunately, he fell off and sprained his ankle. 

We brought down this large hammock and put it up in the trees.  The girls enjoyed hanging out on it and reading. 

Parker came by on Duchess while we were on the hammock.  She looks so tall from this point of view. 

On Sunday we had quite the scare when we saw our new horse Sugar Cookie on the ground. Kev ran over and got the saddle off her.  We fed her granola bars, water, brushed her down and tried to get her back up on her feet.  Spence was the one to get her back up.  We are not sure if she overheated or was just worn out from all the riding. We are glad that she got up and is doing fine now. 

The next morning we got up early and drove to Deer Creek.  We met my family there.  My Dad brought up a floating basketball game for the kids to play with. 

Parker took him our for a ride on the waverunner.

We are glad Amy and some of the cousins were able to come. 

Kayley, Halle, and Kenna had loved being pulled around in the tube.  We had a fun day at the lake.  It was a long line to get the waverunners out of the water.  Kenna and I drove them around for awhile waiting for Kev.  We even ran into Brooke's family who were out on the lake with their boat.  We are sad that Summer is quickly coming to an end.
