"Praise to the man"

I have been thinking a lot about our Prophet President Hinckley. I know that he is and was a true Prophet of God. I am so grateful for his life and all that he taught us while he was here on this earth. One of my favorite stories was about when he was on his mission to England. He was feeling discouraged and wrote a letter home to his father. His fathers letter to him said, "Forget yourself and go to work". He truly listened to his fathers words. President Hinckley spent his whole Life serving others and working hard. On the news last night they said that he always put in a hard days work eventhough he was in his nineties. It is amazing to think of the impact he has had on everyone in the entire World. I was touched when I saw the flags flying at half mast all over the community today. We are all mourning the loss of our President Hinckley, even those who are not members of our faith. I have been privileged to hear President Hinckley speak in person several times. I remember waiting for hours at Ricks College to hear him speak at a devotional. He had so much wisdom to share with us and always his great sense of humor too. My children were sad when we told them that our Prophet had passed away. They are at an age when they are curious about what happens when you die. It provided us with a great opportunity to teach them that the body dies but the spirit goes on living. Last year the kids and I watched them build the Gordon B. Hinckley building on the BYU campus. We drove by almost everyday taking Kevin & Kenna to school. We watched it grow from the ground up. The kids would point out everytime we drove by that it was President Hinckleys building. I had the chance to walk through the building at Christmas time. The inside is just as beautiful as the outside. It is a wonderful tribute to our Prophet. His picture hangs on the mantle over a giant fireplace. It is special that they completed the building in time for his last Birthday here on earth. We will miss hearing from President Hinckley this upcoming conference. We will miss his wisdom and humor. The words from the hymn "We thank thee O God for a Prophet" keep coming into my mind.

True Blue!!

Our family went to the BYU basketball game today! We played the Universtiy of New Mexico and won them!!Go Cougars!! The score was 83-66. This was the cougars 42nd consecutive home win. We had a great time cheering them on! On a side note....I got in trouble at the game..a security guard came to talk to me. She thought that I was taking video of the game. I told her that I was just taking pictures and was off the hook. I was just excited to try out some different features with my new camera. The funny thing is that I probably took more pictures of my family then I did of the game. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Snow, Snow, Snow!!!!

Yesterday it snowed over five inches at our house! The kids couldn't wait to get out and play in all of it. Kev was working hard shoveling it off the driveway while the kids and I played in it. It has been fun to have so much snow this winter!

"cat nap"

I went to the bus stop to pick Mckenna up but she never got off the bus. It was strange because she usually is one of the first kids to get off. Naturally being a Mom, I started to get worried. I started to think that she had never got on the bus at school. I immediately went to talk to the bus driver and see what had happened. The bus driver told me that Mckenna was having a "cat nap". She had just gone to wake her up and said she would be off the bus in a minute. I was so relieved!! When I asked Mckenna how her day had been she sighed and then said,"mom, it was rough! we had to read all morning long."

Suprises in the mail!

The other day we had three packages waiting for us on the porch. The kids were so excited when they found out they were for them. I had no idea what they were until I looked at the label. They were from the credit union. Kev and I had opened up the kids their own savings accounts last month. We thought it would be a good idea to start putting some money away for them. When we opened up the accounts they said the kids could have a free BYU sweatshirt. The problem is they only come in adult sizes. The kids didn't care and coudn't wait to put them on. It was hilarious to see how big the sweatshirts were! I guess they will grow into them someday!

Halle turned ten months on the second of this month. It is going by way too fast. We will be celebrating her first birthday before we know it! Halle is still amazing us with all the new things she learns each day! She is pulling herself up on the furniture and getting around the whole house. Her new favorite place is the bathroom. If she is missing I know I can find her digging through the bathroom trash.(I now try to keep all the bathroom doors shut) She has also once opened up the toilet seat. She can really be a rascal sometimes. She has found that she can entertain us by making funny noises. She likes to blow spit bubbles and make buzzing noises with her lips. She now says Muh-muh which makes me so happy everytime I hear it!
