August in a nutshell..

I was just telling Kev that I have been feeling guilty that I haven't been updating the blog lately. He reminded me that I have a good excuse since I have been busy taking care of a newborn baby. Mckenna started second grade this month. She is growing up so fast!
Here is the traditional picture of her by the front door ready to go to school. It was a bittersweet moment. I was glad that she was going to school but I knew we would really miss her at home. She has been such a great help since Hayden has arrived. She is really great at holding him and helping out with Halle and Parker when I can't. She even fixed her own breakfast the other day when I was busy with Hayden.

This picture shows life how it really is. I am trying to stay positive about things eventhough Hayden is a hard baby. We found out this month that Hayden has acid reflux. He is on Prevacid which helps relieve some of the symptoms but the poor little guy is miserable a lot of the time. If anyone out there has had a baby with acid reflux I would love any advice you have to give.

One highlight in the last couple of weeks is that my sister Teenie has been in town. We love having her here. She had a sleepover on our tramp with all the kids minus Hayden. They had so much fun until it started raining on them at four in the morning.

Here is a picture of my boys! Parker is so happy to have a little brother. He loves to make faces and play with him. When Hayden is crying Parker is so sweet and sings him little songs to calm him down.

I am learning this month what it means to be a "soccer mom"! Mckenna and Parker both started soccer. We spend almost every night of the week rushing off to soccer games and practices. The kids love it! It is fun because a lot of their friends our on their teams. We enjoy talking with our neighbors while they practice.

Aunt Teenie was really excited to meet Hayden for the first time. She loves to snuggle with him and was a good sport even when he spit up all over her. I love his picture of Hayden because you can see that he is starting to fill out. He is working on his chubby cheeks and double chin.

On Friday night my brother, sisters, niece and nephew all came over! It was great to see Mike and Amy. They have been in D.C. all summer for Mikes internship. It was fun to see how much the twins have grown in the last few months. It was great to have all the cousins together.

Hayden's newborn pictures!!

Hayden had some pictures taken of him this week. My friend Liz Weekley is a professional photographer. She is very talented and I really like all the pictures she takes of kids. It took awhile to get Hayden into the different poses. She would get him into the pose and put the pacifier in his mouth. We would wait until he fell asleep and then carefully take the pacifier back out. I was really happy with how the pictures turned out. It is not an easy task getting a newborn to cooperate and have the pictures turn out good. Thanks Liz for taking these photos! You can follow the link to see some of his pictures....enjoy!
