Go for the Gold!

Hayden had his Blue & Gold Banquet on Tuesday February 20th.  They had an Olympic theme this time.  He was asked to bring a cake to share.  I made a blue & gold cake with the scout emblems on a banner.  It was also dairy free so he could eat it.  He got recognized for the cake with the "best shape".

Hayden and Addy had fun coloring while we waited for the night to start  You can definitely see from this picture that Hayden is a leftie.

 

It was Hayden's fist time leading the pledge of allegiance.  He was nervous but did a great job.  He also received two belt loops for things he has been working on at scouts.

Brody Frost and Mason Castagno sat with Hayden at our table. They tend to get a little rowdy when they are together!

Brother Porter put together some fun Olympic events for the boys to participate in.  He made these racers for the boys and they loved them.  We had fun cheering on Hayden's team. 

Family Ski day!

We went skiing together as a family on Saturday February 17th.  We rent some of our gear from AJ motion in Sandy.  Hayden was checking out this giant "abominable snowman" they had in their store.

It was Addy's first time coming skiing with all of us.  She was really excited.  It was a busy day at Brighton.  We had to park towards the back of the lot and then hurry to get Addy to her lesson.

We put Addy in the Little Rippers Ski school for the day.  Hayden also went to Ski school for the morning.  He is in the older and more advanced class now that he is eight.  I thought this was a cute picture of the two of them.

 

We enjoyed the day skiing together.  It wasn't as busy on some of the blue and green runs.

Hayden's technique is improving.  He likes to go off jumps and play in the trees with his brother and sisters.

There were long lines to get on the lifts.  Halle and I were stretching as we waited in line.  You can get a good calve stretch in ski's!

We met up with Addy at the end of the day.  It was cute to see her waiting in line for the lift.  Her ski's are so small too.

The family had fun skiing around the kiddie hill with her.  She has got her pizza wedge down good.

 

It was memorable to have our whole family skiing together for the first time.  I am glad our kids enjoy skiing with us.

Celebrating Valentine's day

Hayden had a lot of fun decorating his box for the Valentines party.  He made a potty monster.  Kev helped design it so when you pull the handle the lid opens.  I printed out the eyes and his name in vinyl.  Hayden was happy with how it turned out.  He got lots of compliments from the kids in his class.  I was glad that I could go help with his party that day.

I was in charge of the game.  I reused a valentine match up game that I had made a couple years before.  It was great to see Hayden having fun and interacting with his classmates.  I love my brown eyed boy!

Halle also spent a lot of time working on her valentine's box.  It was a puppy grooming salon.  She got the award for "the most creative" box in her class.  I love my Halle babes!

Parker watched the other kids while Kev and I went out for the night.  We wanted to eat at Red Lobster since we had a gift card there. We called ahead on the way down and got on the waiting list.  They said it was going to be a couple hours.   So we went and did some shopping.  I had several things I wanted to get at the mall.  Kev was kind and humored me since he can't stand shopping. We also took some selfies in the car while we waited.

We finally sat down to eat at 8:30 that night.  It was a long wait but the food was worth it.  I love getting my fill of seafood.  It was nice to spend the night out enjoying each others company.  I am grateful to have Kev as my husband.  

I was also able to visit my Grandma later that week.  I surprised her with a nutella waffle from Waffle Love.  It was her first time trying one and she kept telling me how wonderful it was.  She said it was the best waffle she has ever had.  I love spending time with my cute Grandma!

Happy Galentines Day!

I went to a tea party on Saturday February 10th.  It was hosted by my bestie Brekke.  It was fun to spend the afternoon with these awesome women. Several of us, also served in YW's together.

Brekke made everything look cute and did most of the baking.  We had scones, cucumber sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, roast beef sandwiches, cake, and tea of course.  My favorite thing I tried was the cake with raspberry jam and cream.

We also made English hats called "fascinators".  It was fun seeing what everyone came up with.  I loved the little owl Lacey put on hers.  It was just the right touch.

We used teacups that Brekke inherited from her Grandma. It was fun to eat food and sit around at talk.  It reminded me of the finer things club from the TV show The Office.  I even went back and watched the episode later that night.  It gave me a good laugh.

I had Mckenna take a picture of me wearing my fascinator hat that I designed.  I got a little ambitious and thought I would cover my entire hat in sequins.  It was after hot gluing on two rows I decided that would do.  It was a lovely afternoon with friends.  I can't wait until next year!

Grant family party

We drove up to the cabin on Friday February 2nd.  Addy was so tired that she fell asleep in the car on the ride up.  Kenna and Halle were faking it for the picture.

We got up in time to have dinner with some of our Grant family.  Spence made my day by bringing up Aggie ice cream to share.  I couldn't even take my eyes off my ice cream for a picture.

Hayden was tossing candy down from the room above.  It was funny seeing Aunt Tracey just as excited as the kids to catch the candy.  We always enjoy when Dave, Tracey and their family fly in for the snowmobiling party.  It was also Kyle's first winter back home from his mission.  Parker had a great time hanging out with him.  Kyle also told us that he is studying mechanical engineering at the Y just like Kev did.  They had fun talking about his professors and classes.

We enjoyed having Megan up there with us.  She was sweet and braided Halle's hair for her that morning.

Addy brought home her class dog "Andy" for the weekend.  She was really excited about it.  She couldn't wait to take him for a snowmobile ride.  Then she wrote a story about it to share with her class.

Hayden has become quite the expert snowcave builder.

Kev enjoyed hanging out with his uncles and cousins.  We had about 50 people from the Grant family come up for the day.  It was nice that Jared, Carly, and their cute boys were here visiting from Florida. 

Lindsay also brought up her boyfriend Daniel.  It was fun getting to know him.  He is studying engineering at BYU right now.  I drove them to the top of the road in the Gator so they could sled back down.

The snow was perfect for the wooden sleds this weekend.  Mckenna went so fast and passed up everyone.  We even sent Addy down on her back one time.  It reminded me of the skeleton races at the Olympics.  We are looking forward to the watching the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang in a week.
